Donovan J. Kanagy, 46, of 1210 Front Mountain Road, Belleville, passed away Friday, Feb. 7, 2020, at his home.
Born July 7, 1973, in Lewistown, he was a son of Norman and Wilda (Young) Kanagy of 1234 Front Mountain Road, Belleville. On Feb. 21, 2004, he married Heather R. (Carolus) Kanagy, who survives at their home.
Also surviving are: children, Isaac J. Kanagy and Olivia R. Kanagy, both at home; siblings, Jerry Kanagy and wife, Paula, of Linglestown, Kelly Kanagy and wife, Holly, of Reedsville, Holly Oksen and husband, John, of New Jersey; in-laws, Kathy Pecht and husband, Scott, of Reedsville and Earl Carolus and wife, Sue, of Lewistown; as well as a number of special aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Kanagy.
Donovan graduated in 1991 from Indian Valley High School. Following high school, he attended Hesston College to study aviation for two years. He then attended school in Baltimore where he received his certification as an aircraft mechanic. He also obtained his pilot’s license and was a flight instructor. Most recently, he was employed at Metzler’s Forest Products for the past 14 years.
He was a member of the Allensville Mennonite Church and a member of the Spruce-Pine Camp. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, spending time at the shanty with his Dad and brothers and riding four-wheeler.
His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020, at Allensville Mennonite Church.
Burial will take place at Allensville Mennonite Cemetery.
His family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, 2020, at Allensville Mennonite Church.
