Alma Jane Miller

Alma Jane (Good) Miller, 88, of Valley View Retirement Village, Belleville went home to be with her Lord on Monday, July 17, 2023 at the Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.


She was born on Dec. 17, 1934 at the farm of her Aunt and Uncle Ewing, Petersburg RD to the late William and Evelyn (Sassaman) Good. She was raised in Mill Creek and the Mount Union area and graduated from Mount Union (Capt. Jack) High School in 1952 and still cherishes her classmates. She was married to Joseph A. Miller on June 5, 1954 at the Otelia Mennonite Church, Mount Union. He preceded her in death in May, 2013. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings, James E. Good and Joyce E. McClelland. She was the last of her immediate family. She is survived by five children: Sherryl (Miller) Yoder and husband, Paul, of Belleville, Karen (Miller) Long and husband, Craig, of Mount Union, David J. Miller and wife, Linda, of Greeley, CO, Jonathan M. Miller and wife, Martha, of Hutchinson, KS, and Marilyn (Miller) Benally and husband, Victor, of Ganado, AZ, 15 grandchildren: Michael Yoder and wife, Maria, Michelle (Yoder) Sensenig and husband, Victor, Matthew Yoder and wife, Bobbi, Marc Yoder and wife, JaLisa, Stephanie (Long) Walton and husband, Jakob, Stephen Long and wife, Kaylee, Joseph Long and wife, Apassara, Janet (Long) Snyder and husband, Gideon, Tyler Miller, Kristofer Miller and wife, Jenny, Rachel Miller, Noah Miller and wife, Anna, Jacob Miller, Timothy Benally and Abigail Benally, 24 great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law Patricia ‘Pat’ Good, of Carlisle, as well as many special nieces and nephews.

Jane was primarily a homemaker. She was a member of the Otelia Mennonite Church and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was a friend to many and never met a stranger. She enjoyed singing, playing the piano, writing, enjoyed making up songs and poems for special occasions. She was always young at heart and enjoyed sending cards and greetings to people.

Her family would like to express appreciation for the wonderful care she received from the staff and her friends during her time at Valley View Retirement Community. There will be a viewing held on Friday, July 21, 2023 from 5-8 p.m. at Valley View Haven Chapel, 4702 East Main Street, Belleville, PA. (Please enter at the Chapel entrance at the rear of the building.) The burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. There will be a memorial service held on Saturday, July 22, at 10:30 a.m. at the Otelia Mennonite Church with Dewayne Isaac and Gerald Peachey officiating.
