Charles L. Royer, 88, of Belleville, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Valley View Haven.
He was born on September 23, 1936, in Barrville, to the late William F. and Stella W. (Fye) Royer. In December, 1956, he married Kay D. (Laub) Royer, who preceded him in death in September, 2010. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by two sons: Michael Royer and Charles C. “Bear” Royer; and siblings: Gladys Seiler, Betty Keiser, Helen Strange, Mildred Majestic, Eleanor Smith, Mary Henry, William, Fred, James, Robert, Marlin and Glenn Royer, and Dorothy Bradley.
Surviving are children: Leigh Ann Swineford and husband Larry of Belleville, Renee Shambach and husband Aaron of Linglestown; daughter-in-law: Beth Royer of Lewistown; 7 grandchildren: Brittany Royer, Kalyn Condron, Nate Swineford, Alex Moyer, Riley Shambach, Avery Shambach, Sophie Shambach; 3 great-grandchildren: Gabe Condron, Christopher Moyer; Charlotte King; brothers: Edward Royer of Burnham and Ronald Royer of Dry Valley.
He attended high school in Burnham and was employed at New Holland for 35 years, retiring in 1992.
He was a Lutheran by faith and was a member at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Belleville.
He was a member of the Early Bird Hunting Camp for many years. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He especially enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed going to the beach and deep sea fishing with his brother Robert.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Chas was not only my uncle but like a second dad to me growing up. Going to their house was always like going home. He will be missed but he is now in the presence of God and a lot of family that he’s waited a long time to reunite with. Love ya Chas! Sher
