David C. Haughwout, 68, of Belleville, PA, passed away on October 28, 2024. He was born on November 23, 1955, in Lewistown, PA, a son of the late James Ard Jr. and Patricia Ann (Campbell) Haughwout. He attended Kishacoquillas High School and was a 1978 graduate of Kutztown University where he was a Fine Arts major. His home church was the Reedsville Presbyterian Church.
David was a uniquely gifted and creative man. He could be found composing music, involved in woodworking projects, crafting sculptures, designing and creating with his 3-D printer, or inventing something or other. He had a fascination with geodesic domes—even designing and building the one in which he lived. He loved a rousing game of Aggravation. David had a passion for hang-gliding and was a highly skilled pilot. He could often be seen soaring over the family farm or other scenic views. His hang-gliding friends were like a second family to him.
David was an inspiration to young and old alike. His fun-loving character and zest for life will long be remembered by his family and friends who survive.
David is survived by siblings James A. Haughwout III and wife, Lynn, of Jersey Shore, PA; Nancy Slaughter and husband, Tom, of Raleigh, NC; Jane Longenecker and husband, Gerald, of Harrisburg, PA; Willam H. Haughwout and wife, Cathy, of Belleville, PA; Mary L. Fetrow and husband, Jeff, of Mechanicsburg, PA; and fifteen nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Saturday, November 16th, at 11:00 a.m. at the Reedsville Presbyterian Church with Rev. Ela J. Robertson presiding.
