David S. King

June 26, 1939 - October 27, 2022




David S. King, 83, of 1025 W. Back Mountain Road, Belleville, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2022 at his home.


He was born on June 26, 1939, in Reedsville, a son of the late Eli B. and Sarah S. (Yoder) King. On June 13, 1963, he married Martha M. (Spicher) King. She survives at their home.

Also surviving are: his children, David J. King and wife Kathy of New Holland; Lois Ann Peachey and husband Mervin of Belleville; Marlene Nisly and husband Dwight of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Galen King and wife Beth of Belleville; Timothy King and wife Janice of McVeytown; Myron King and wife Mary Ellen of Greencastle; Marvin King and wife Charlene of Spain; and Matthew King and wife Krissy of Queens, N.Y.; 35 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; his siblings, Alvin King of Mifflintown; Amelia Yoder of McVeytown; Jesse King and wife Erma of Hartville, Ohio; John King and wife Anna Fern of Kalona, Iowa; Martha King of Belleville; Jake King and wife Joyce of Arlington, Kan.; Sara King of Belleville; and Eli King and wife Mary Jane of Belleville; as well as a brother-in-law, Norman Kauffman of Mayfield, Ky.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lena King and Mary Kauffman, a brother-in-law, Ray Yoder, a sister-in-law, Anna Mae King, and three grandsons, Derek King, Jensen King and Joshua King.

David was a carpenter and was ordained as a minister in 1986. He preached for many years at Valley View Amish Mennonite Church, where he was also a member. He served on the Board of Directors at the Bald Eagle Boys Camp, Penn Valley Christian Retreat Center, on the MCC Board, and was administrator at Valley View School for a number of years.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, reading and had a passion for organizations serving God’s Kingdom.

His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct, 31, 2022, at Valley View Amish Mennonite Church with Ministers Dwight Nisly, Galen King and Eli King officiating. Burial will take place at Locust Grove Cemetery following the service. His family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, 2022, at Valley View Church.
