David W. Yoder

August 4, 1938 - July 8, 2023






David W. Yoder, 84, of 8068 Ferguson Valley Road, McVeytown, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.


He was born on Aug. 4, 1938 in Belleville to the late Sam C. and Arie (Byler) Yoder. He is survived by his wife, Sara (Peachey) Yoder, whom he married on October 26, 1961.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Marlin J. Yoder and wife Julia A. of McVeytown, Marlene J. Yoder at home, Darvin W. Yoder and wife Shana of Belleville, Loren K. Yoder and wife Mary Ellen of Belleville, Mary Ellen King and husband Myron of Greencastle, PA; 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Beulah Kauffman, Reedsville, PA, Frances Kanagy, Chambersburg, PA, Marlin (Mo) Yoder and wife Karen of Buhler, KS, Raymond Yoder and wife Nancy of Reedsville, PA, John Yoder and wife Joyce of Buhler, KS.


In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings Anna Hostetler, Mary Kurtz, Esther Peachey, Elsie Yoder, Samuel (Sonny) Yoder, and Arlene Spicher; grandsons Derek, Jensen, and Joshua King; and great-granddaughter Sierra Yoder.

David was a lifelong dairy farmer and a member of Valley View Amish Mennonite Church. In earlier years, Dave enjoyed going hunting and fishing. More recently, he could be seen at a few of the local restaurants having coffee and socializing with friends. He was a friend to everyone and enjoyed handing out candy to the children at church. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-children.


A viewing will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, July 10, 2023, at the Valley View Church. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at 10 a.m. at the Valley View Church with Arlan Kurtz, Matthew Peachey, and Eli King officiating. Burial will be at the Locust Grove Cemetery.
