Dorothy M. Espigh, 95, of Valley View Terrace, Apartment A128, Belleville, passed away at 11:20 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2020, at the Terrace.
Born May 5, 1925, in McVeytown, she was the daughter of the late Andrew G. and Isabelle (Kauffman) Buchanan.
In September 1942, she married Eugene E. Espigh, who passed away in 2004. Surviving is a son, Terry S. Espigh and wife, Lori A., of McVeytown; grandsons, Matthew Espigh and wife, Jessy, of Reedsville. and Justin Espigh and wife, Amber, of McVeytown; as well as a great-grandson, Jaxon Espigh; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Harshbarger, of Lewistown.
Dorothy graduated from McVeytown-Oliver High School in 1942. She began working at Noerr Motor Freight, but most of her working career was spent at William Dodd Insurance Agency. Most recently, she worked for the Mifflin County School District in the cafeterias. She was a lifetime member of the Spring Run Church of the Brethren. She served as a volunteer for many years at Valley View Haven, pushing wheelchairs to chapel and visiting the residents. She enjoyed going for walks, collecting milk glass, making ceramics, quilting and crocheting. She also especially enjoyed sitting and talking with people and learning their genealogy. Her grandsons and great-grandson were the light of her life.
Her memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, 2020, at Henderson Funeral Home, Belleville, with Pastor Gerald Peachey officiating.
Burial will take place at Spring Run Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home on Friday.
