Douglas W. Dunkle

August 24, 1953 - August 13, 2023







Douglas W. Dunkle, 69, of 64 Second Street, Belleville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2023 of complications from ALS. He was surrounded by his loving family.


He was born on Aug. 24, 1953 in Huntingdon, PA to the late Gerold “Joe” and Joyce M. (Westover) Dunkle. He married Maureen “Mo” (Larkin) Dunkle in April of 2013.

He is survived by children, Ashlee T. Crownover (Jason), of Belleville, Kendalle R. Dunkle (Donald Casner), of Allensville, Robyn M. Halvorsen, of Florida, seven grandchildren, Darrian, Evan, Adalyn, Payson, Douglas W. Dunkle II, Rylee, Lakota “Coco”, four great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Stephen T. Dunkle and Randy M. Dunkle, both of Allensville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Gerold D. “Little Joe” Dunkle II, and his great grandson, Gerold D. Dunkle III.

Douglas graduated in 1971 from Kishacoquillas High School. He was a proud Navy Veteran who served from 1972-1975. He retired from New Holland after 30 years of service. Following retirement, he enjoyed doing construction work for several years. He was a member of the Evangel Baptist Church in Lewistown and also a member of the American Legion in Milroy.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved riding his motorcycle, enjoyed woodworking and carpentry. He was Alabama Crimson Tide’s most loyal fan since the 70’s. He was a very devoted family man and dearly loved his wife, children, grandchildren and his brothers.

Please join us for a Celebration of Life service to be held on Friday, Aug. 18, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. at Doug & Mo’s house, 64 Second Street, Belleville. There will be a church service held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of one’s choice.

A special thank you to our friends who were always there for us. His family would also like to thank the ALS Clinic in Pittsburgh and Altoona and a special thank you to his home-based primary care team.
