Evelyn H. Wilde

Evelyn H. Wilde, 100, of 32 Seneca Road, Belleville, passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at Valley View Haven.


Born June 11, 1921, in Reedsville, she was a daughter of the late Frank R. and Anna (Mull) Houser. On July 21, 1945, she married Raymond A. Wilde. He preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 1981.

She is survived by a son, Ray Allen Wilde of Belleville, a brother, John H. Houser and wife Shirley of Spring Mills, two sisters, Mary Heimbaugh of Knoxville, Tenn., and Jane H. Taylor of Reedsville, nieces and nephews, Melva Jane Worley, Joan Yoder, Lila Ann Schaaf, Molly Hyatt, Brad Taylor, Tim Houser, Marsha Lynn Taylor, as well as numerous special great nieces and great nephews.

Eve was preceded in death by her daughter, Kay Jean Wilde, on Aug. 11, 1949, a brother, Frank O. Houser, a sister-in-law, Betty Houser, two brothers-in-law, Dave Heimbaugh and Harry Taylor and a niece, Evelyn O. Houser.

She graduated from Reedsville High School in 1939 and Lewistown Hospital School of Nursing in 1942. She worked as an RN at Lewistown Hospital for 25 years, at the American Heart Association for three years, the Area Agency on Aging for eight years and was last employed at Ohesson Manor, where she worked for 10 years before her retirement in 1991. She was a member of West Kishacoquillas Presbyterian Church, a member of Lewistown Hospital Nurses Alumni Association, and a life member of VFW Post No. 5935 Ladies Auxiliary. She also sold Avon for 15 years after her retirement.

Her memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, 2021, at West Kish Presbyterian Church. Her family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of service at the church on Sunday. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at Church Hill Cemetery.
