Geraldine Mae (Mentzer) Hancock Piper, 93, of Hill Valley, went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at her home.
She was born on September 9, 1931 in Burnt Cabins, to the late Warren E. and Florence E. (Semple) Mentzer. She married her first husband, Wilmer D. Hancock on June 18, 1950, and he passed away on July 25, 2005. She married her second husband on April 26, 2008, and he preceded her in death on March 23, 2019.
Surviving are children: Wilmer O. “Bill” Hancock and wife Marlene of Mount Union, Cynthia L. Fortney and husband Fred of Hill Valley, Timothy R. Hancock and wife Connie of Rock Hill, David B. Hancock and wife Tonya Stoner-Hancock of McVeytown; step-children: Judy Eichenlaub and husband Wayne of Blairs Mills, William Piper and wife Vicki of Shade Gap, Randy Piper and wife Cathy of Burnt Cabins; step-daughter-in-law Donna Piper of Neelyton; grandchildren: Mick Abrashoff and wife Dee, Randy Abrashoff and wife Tawnya, Travis Fortney and wife Tobie, April Henderson-Rhodes and husband Eddie, Erica Doyle and husband Jeremy, Staisha Hancock and fiancé Peter Serefine, Tiphonie Jaymes and husband Mark, Corinne Baker and husband Trevor, Danielle Hancock, Daphne Miller and husband Benjamin, CJ Sell, Jesica Lyn Chilcote and companion David Moore, MiKayla Runk and husband Mason; Kimberlee Stoner, Lisa Stoner, 24 great-grandchildren; 9 step-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren, with one on the way; sisters: Thelma Briggs, Donna Briggs, Sara Mae Bishop and husband Jim, Dottie Parson and husband Gary, Bonnie Parson, Patsy Brady and husband Kevin, Carol Williams and husband John; and a sister-in-law: Sarie Mentzer.
She was also preceded in death by a son: James Hancock; a step-son: Robert Piper, Jr.; a sister: Betty Hancock; brothers: Bob Mentzer and Floyd Mentzer; brothers-in-law: Roger Truax, Paul Briggs, Bill Briggs, Rex Parson and grandson-in-law: Reed Henderson.
She was primarily a homemaker and had been employed at the Mount Union Sewing Factory for 17 years and U.S. Sports in Huntingdon.
She had a deep love for her Lord and Savior. She attended The Way Bible Church in McVeytown. She served as a church camp counselor for 30+ years.
She enjoyed reading, word search puzzles, playing board games, especially Skip Bo and Yahtzee with family and friends.
A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2025, at the Singer’s Gap Independent Church. A Celebration of a beautiful life will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the church with Pastors Sam Stoey and Rich Morris officiating. Burial will take place following the funeral at the Mount Union Cemetery.

The memory of Mrs. Geraldine Mae Hancock and then Piper will always bring a smile and feeling of warmth ... years ago, in the second grade at the Shirley Township Elementary School, Jimmy and I were in the class together with our teacher Mrs. Runk and during the name exchange at the Christmas holiday that year, Jimmy's mom bought the gift for him to give to me: a blue Avon plastic telephone with a small bottle of perfume inside of the rotary dial in its center.
