Gwendolyn A. Hornberger

Gwendolyn A. Hornberger, 73, of 110 Trella St, Belleville, passed away on Feb. 7, 2023, at her home.


She was born on Sept. 15, 1949, in Belleville, a daughter to the late Glenn and Beverly Ann (Stuter) Bigelow.

On Jan. 27, 1969, she married, Darlington C. Hornberger, who preceded her in death on Aug. 1, 2005.

She is survived by: her children, Glynn A. Hornberger and husband, Matthew Spigelmyer, of Spring Mills, and Tyler D. Hornberger and wife, Chelsea B. McCurry, of Baltimore, MD, grandchildren, Grayson A. Ruble, of Spring Mills and Avis A. Hornberger, of Baltimore, MD.

She was the last of her immediate family.

Gwen was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Belleville, and enjoyed sharing her faith as a lay minister with local churches in the area. She served as a volunteer with the election board in Union Township and Meals on Wheels for a number of years. She enjoyed traveling, going dancing, and being with her friends. She had a love for animals, and was especially fond of her dog, Molly.

A celebration of life service will be held from 3-6 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2023, at Brookmere Winery, 5369 SR 655, Belleville, PA. Her family will receive friends at this time. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Belleville.

Arrangements are under the care of Henderson Funeral Home, Belleville, PA.

Great Aunt Gwen, I have so many fun memories of us together-- one that comes to mind right away was from my wedding-- everyone remembers your nickname and dance moves! Another is when we took a trip to visit you at your store in Baltimore. You were so fun to be around and I always admired your lively spirit, wit, and sense of humor.
