H. Donald Wolfe

March 20, 1928 - March 11, 2024





H. Donald Wolfe, 95, of Valley View Haven Nursing Home, Belleville, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024 at Valley View, surrounded by his family.


He was born on March 20, 1928 in Centre Hall, PA to the late Harry R. and Carrie (Bartges) Wolfe.  On December 24, 1951, he married Leoma E. (Mowery) Wolfe, who survives.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel Gussler, four brothers: Eugene, Glenn, Harold and Marlin Wolfe and one sister, Leona (Wolfe) Mathew.  He was the last of his immediate family.


In addition to his wife, he is survived by children Harry D. Wolfe, Jr. and wife Sandra, of Overton, NE, Dr. Dwight D. Wolfe and wife V. Jean of New Holland, PA, and Carrie Wolfe Gussler of Harrisburg; grandchildren: Sean & Dean Wolfe, Douglas A. Wolfe, Lauren Wolfe, Kristen Reeser, and Benjamin Gussler; great-grandchildren:  Dylan, Gabriel, Wesley, Mark, Kevin, Makaylin, Joseph, Aubrey, Ivey, and Noah.


He graduated in 1951 from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering.  He worked for New Holland for 39 years, where he last worked as Quality Control Manager.


He enjoyed traveling, hunting and camping with his family. He and his wife have visited 48 states and Canada during their travels.


He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Belleville, where he served as a council member and sang in the choir for many years.  He served as the Director at Camp Mount Luther in Mifflinburg, PA; was a life-long member of Lutheran Brotherhood (now Thrivent Financial) and served as president of the local chapter for many years. He was a member of Gideon International since 1978; a former member of the Kish Rod and Gun Club; and a former member of Big Valley Ambulance Club, where he was a driver for several years; he was also a Cub Scout Master for ten years in Belleville.


A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 18, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College, PA  16801 with Pastor Mike Sigler officiating.
