March 19, 1941 - January 2, 2023
Helen L. Yoder, 81 of Valley View Haven, Belleville, passed away at 1:40 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2, 2023 at the Haven.
She was born on March 19, 1941 in Belleville, a daughter of the late Harvey and Anna (Hartzler) Peachey. On June 4, 1960, she married her husband of 62 years, Floyd J. Yoder, who survives at their home.
Also surviving are: her children, Terrence Yoder and wife, Kendra, of State College, and Austin Yoder and wife, Jodi, of Austin, TX, and Angela Neer and husband, Paul, of Belleville, a sister, Jane Diffenderfer of Lititz, and six grandchildren, Caleb Yoder, Hayden Yoder, Silas Neer, Jacob Neer, Madison Yoder, and Sierra Yoder.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, James Peachey, Solomon Peachey, Harvey Peachey, Loren Peachey, Lois Yoder, Patricia Zook, and Joanne Kauffman.
Helen graduated from Belleville Mennonite School. She spent many years as a homemaker then volunteered at the Big Valley Thrift and Gift where she enjoyed serving as manager and assistant manager from 1992-1996 and 2001-2003.
Helen was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She focused on creating a loving home for her immediate and extended family.
She enjoyed entertaining family and friends at her home, and always prepared a fun filled gathering with her special loving touches. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and grandchildren.
A member of Maple Grove Mennonite Church, Helen enjoyed community fellowship, music (especially when performed by her husband, Floyd) and participating in the choir. She also enjoyed traveling and bike riding with her husband. If not surrounded by family, she would often be found listening to beautiful music or reading inspirational books and scripture. She was well known for her unconditional love, kindness, selflessness, and generosity to all. Helen’s family would like to express their appreciation to the Geisinger LIFE and Valley View caregivers that helped Floyd care for Helen in her final years.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023, at Maple Grove Mennonite Church, with Pastor Alan Kauffman officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at Locust Grove Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2023, at Maple Grove Mennonite Church.
