J. Robert Young

December 17, 1932 - March 19, 2024








J. Robert Young, 91, of Valley View Haven Nursing Home, Belleville, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at Valley View.


He was born on December 17, 1932 to the late Baker M. and Blanche (Foltz) Young.  On March 29, 1956, he married Barbara C. (Cunningham) Young who survives.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: Randal Young (at birth), twin brother Wolten Ronald “Tuck” Young, and Richard T. Young.


Surviving along with his wife are children: Jan Y. Hagenberger and husband Gene of Hanover, PA, Jeffrey R. Young and wife Jeri Ann of Belleville; three grandchildren: Taylor Young and fiancé Seth Greenfield of Huntingdon, PA, Elise Pittrizzi and husband Casey of Fairfax, VA, Grant Hagenberger and wife Mary of Harrisburg, PA; two great-grandchildren: Amelia and Jenson; step grandchildren: Jeremy Charles of Belleville, Jenna Powell and husband Ryan of Belleville; three step great-grandchildren: Gabryella, Jett and Oakleigh Powell of Belleville.


He graduated in 1951 from Belleville High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict from 1953-1955.  He retired from the family-owned business of J.M. Young & Sons, Inc. in Belleville after 45 years.  He was the President of the company for 12 years.


He was a member of the Allensville Presbyterian Church, where he served as Trustee, Elder, Deacon and Sunday school treasurer, served as director of the Stone Mountain Village Home for Boys for many years, director of Valley View Retirement Community for 12 years, served on advisory board for Northwest Savings Bank of Lewistown for many years and served several years on the board of directors at the YMCA.


He loved his wife and family very much.  He enjoyed golfing and being outdoors.


A viewing will be held at the Allensville Community Church, 126 East Main Street, Allensville, PA on Friday, March 22, 2024 from 10 – 11 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m with Pastor Tyler Covert and George “Buddy” Baird officiating.  A graveside service will follow at the Allensville Presbyterian Cemetery.
