Surviving are brother, David Peachey and wife Linda Peachey of Belleville, PA, and sister, Barb Byler and husband Henry Byler of Belleville. He is also survived by step-children, Walter (Warren) W. Land, Jr. and wife, Robin Land, of Belleville; Doris (Land) Butler and husband Randy Butler, of Belleville; stepson and nephew, Henry (Tom) Thomas Peachey, Jr. of New Cumberland, and many nieces and nephews, in addition to their children, who all called him "Grandpa Jake." In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by sisters: Katie, Elizabeth, Mary, and Annie, and brothers: Israel, Rufus Jr., Jesse, and Henry.
Jake's childhood was spent on the family Dairy farm in Belleville, PA., where he learned his strong work ethic. He served in the United States Army from 1955 through 1957. Jake was a very talented and meticulous painter by trade, retiring from the Maintenance Department at Penn State, State College campus, after many years of employment there. He took great pride in his many years of service, delivering meals to Senior Citizens, for Meals on Wheels. He even remarked that 'sometimes he was the only company that some of the customers had.' He seemed to enjoy it as much as they did.
Jake was a very quiet, kind, and private man. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Juanita. They took many trips together, including a train trip across the country. He also enjoyed visiting his step-daughter in Florida (although he was always happy to get back to The Valley). An avid reader, you would often find him in his chair, reading a Biography or his Bible. He enjoyed watching sports and playing board games with his wife and friends, Judy Brown and Judy Teter. He and Juanita took much joy in their many cats and dogs that came into their lives throughout their marriage, Jake was particularly attached to his little dog, "Buddy," and could often be seen on his many long, daily walks around Belleville with him.
