James O. Reed Sr., 88, of 1314 Green Lane, Reedsville, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at his home.
Born Sept. 20, 1931, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late James Andrew and Clara Isabella (Adams) Reed. He was united in marriage April 8, 1961, to Mary (Corbin) Reed. She resides at their home.
He is survived by: his children, James O. Reed Jr., of Selingsgrove; Sandra R. McGinnis and husband, Mark, of Dubois, Lori R. Thomas, of Reedsville, and Andrew C. Reed and wife, Valerie J., of Reedsville; as well as eight grandchildren, Zachary and Cole Thomas, Matthew and Ryan McGinnis, Aidan, Leah, Alexander and Ethan Reed.
Jim was a 1951 graduate of Reedsville High School. He was owner and operator of Reed-Gap Farms. He was a member of the East Kishacoquillas Presbyterian Church, a member of the PA Farm Bureau, the Mifflin County Holstein Association, a member of the Mifflin County Sr. Extension Club, a life member of the Mifflin County Historical Society, a member of the Centre County Chapter of Sons of the American Revolution. He served on the Mifflin County school board for 26 years. He also served in the Intermediate Unit Board and the Brown Township Planning Commission Board for 17 years.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed collecting antiques, attending registered Holstein sales, participating in and helping to organize the Mifflin County Holstein shows and sales. He was an avid Penn State football and Philadelphia Eagles fan. His funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family, with Pastor Michael Bailey and Rev. Pat Roller officiating. Burial will take place at Church Hill Cemetery, Reedsville.
