Jane E. Elliott

November 26, 1933 - March 24, 2024





Jane E. (Bishop) Elliott, 90, of 406 Center Drive, Belleville, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at Valley View Retirement Community Nursing Home in Belleville, PA.  Jane had lived at Valley View for the past three years, enjoying daily visits with her husband Jim Elliott, who lives in a residential cottage at Valley View.  Jim and Jane met at college in 1952 and were married at Rocky Hill Baptist Church in Cedar Mountain, North Carolina on September 9, 1955.


Jane was born to Boyce and Helen (Hudson) Bishop at their Camp Reasnover home in Cedar Mountain, NC on November 26, 1933.  Her first several years of school were at a small two-room school in Cedar Mountain.  She then attended Brevard, NC schools and graduated as valedictorian from Brevard High in 1951.  She continued her education with degrees from Brevard College in 1953 and Lander University, Greenwood, SC in 1955, with high honors at both schools.  After college, she taught music at Biltmore High School in Asheville, NC until leaving teaching to raise her children.  Jane supported her husband’s education and career as they moved to five states before settling permanently in Pennsylvania over fifty years ago.


In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children, seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.  Her older son, James Michael Elliott of Morgantown, PA passed away in 2022.  Her other two children are Gaye Lynn March, Ephrata, PA and Patrick Elliott and wife Amy H., Stormstown, PA.  Her grandchildren and great-granddaughter are:  Jeremy March, Dylan March, Max Elliott, Adam Elliott, Kimberly Elliott, Erin Elliott, Luka Elliott, and Eva Elliott.  She is also survived by a sister, Mary Bishop of Cedar Mountain, NC.


Jane will be laid to rest at the Rocky Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Cedar Mountain, NC.  There will be a brief service of dedication at interment on Monday, April 1, 2024 at 1 p.m.
