Jefferson Raymond Byler

September 21, 1927 - October 1, 2022



Jefferson Raymond Byler, 95, formerly of 5070 Cunningham Road, Huntingdon, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022, at Westminster Woods.


He was born Sept. 21, 1927, in Belleville, a son of the late Joseph A. Byler and Ada M. (Peachey) Byler. On March 25, 1951, he married Lydia M. (Yoder) Byler. She preceded him in death July 12, 2017.

Surviving are: his nine children, Wanda and husband William Ayers, Petersburg, Irene and husband Freeman Miller, Allensville, Jeffrey and wife Jolene Byler, Belleville, Mary and husband John Couch, Huntingdon, Rebecca and husband David Clark, Tyrone, Betty and husband Garry Forgy, McVeytown, Jason and wife Amy Byler, Youngsville, N.C., Twila and husband Randy Bigelow, Williamsburg, James Byler, Huntingdon, and a daughter-in-law, Sally Byler, Petersburg; 29 grandchildren; 40 great- grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons, as well as his sisters: Anna Hartzler, Edith Kanagy, Emma Jane and husband Nelson Roth, and Flora Byler, all of Belleville.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Joseph Byler, and Jonathan Byler; a daughter-in-law, Linda (Hall) Byler, and his sisters Tilma Harsbarger; Mary Byler; Martha Peachey; and Florence Vaughn.

Jeff was a lifelong dairy farmer. He enjoyed hunting and trapping.

His funeral service will be held at noon Friday, Oct. 7, 2022, at Stone Valley Bible Church in McAlevy’s Fort with Jason Byler officiating. Burial will take place at Stone Valley United Presbyterian Cemetery following the service. His family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Friday.
