Jessie was primarily a homemaker, however later in life she was a caregiver to several local women. She was a member of Mt. View Mennonite Chapel in Reedsville and involved in the Women’s Sewing Circle. Our mother’s house was home to far more than her immediate family. Everyone was welcome, even the neighborhood children who would come around especially when they knew she might be making her well known homemade bread. Although she was busy with seven youngsters of her own, she still opened her home to Fresh Air Children from New York City during the summers, several years she even invited a brother & sister duo. She loved going with Francis to their cabin in New Brunswick Canada every year to spend time with her extended family. She also loved the woods and even enjoyed hunting deer.
Jessie was also a member of the local YMCA in Burnham, PA. She loved playing Water Volley Ball in the pool. She was also an avid walker, walking 2-3 miles a day.
Jessie will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was a wonderful mother and wife and friend.
Her graveside service will be private and at the convenience of the family at Locust Grove Cemetery with Pastor Gerald Peachey officiating.
In lieu of flowers, should friends desire, memorials may be made to: Mt. View Mennonite Chapel, 104 Shelly Drive, Reedsville, PA.
