John A. Peachey

John A. Peachey, 89, of 9639 Front Mountain Rd., Allensville, passed away 10:55 p.m.

Saturday, June 27, 2020 at his home. Son of the late Gideon J. Peachey and Emma (Algyer) Peachey he and was married to wife Martha E. (Byler) Peachey, who preceded him in death on April 8, 2007.

He is survived by children: Virginia Renno and husband, Robert, of Reedsville; Rose Kauffman and husband, Crist, of Allensville; Gideon Peachey and wife, Annette, of Mill Creek; and Lowell Peachey and wife, Savilla, of Mill Creek.

He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

John and Martha opened their home to Marta Roberts as a fresh air child when she was 5 years old. Marta spent every summer with the Peachey’s as well as the holidays until she entered 10th grade when she came to live with them permanently.

He was the last of his family, he was preceded by seven brothers and sisters.

John was a dairy farmer. He was a member of the Allensville Mennonite Church where he served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. He was also a member of the Big Valley Men’s Chorus, and Mennonite Disaster Service and many farmer’s organizations.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at Allensville Mennonite Church with Pastors Nelson Roth, Gerald Peachey, Sherman Stoltzfus, and Bob Zook officiating. Burial will take place at Locust Grove Cemetery.

His family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at the church.
