John D. Beaver

December 27, 1930 - February 23, 2024








John D. Beaver, 93, of 1916 Glenwood Ave., Lewistown, passed away on Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.


He was born on Dec. 27, 1930, in Mount Union, to the late John O. and Myrtle (Rutter) Beaver. On July 16, 1955, he married Helen L. (Bucher) Beaver, who preceded him in death on July 1, 2011. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Helen Brandt, Meril Winnick, Winston Beaver and three infant sisters.


Surviving are children, Joyce L. Bauder of Lewistown, Sherry L. Zook and husband, Brian of Lewistown and Wayne O. Beaver and wife, Joan of Centennial, Colo., four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and one on the way; as well as two sisters, Isophene Traxler & husband, Joseph of Fayetteville, Pa.; Elanor Traxler of Lewistown; and a brother, Ray P. Beaver & wife, Ursula of Denton, T.X.


John served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1949-1953. He was then employed at Home Taste Bakery in Huntingdon and Metz Poultry Farms in Belleville, retiring in 1995. He was also a poultry farmer.


He enjoyed camping and spending time with his family, hunting and fishing.


His viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024, at Calvary Bible Church, with Pastor Bob Marsh officiating. Burial will be at the Germany Valley Cemetery following the service.
