John D. ‘J.D.’ Yoder

November 10, 1969 - November 5, 2021





John D. “J.D.” Yoder, 51, of 179 N. Dryhouse Road, Belleville, passed away Friday, Nov. 5, 2021, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.


Born Nov. 10, 1969, in Lewistown, he was a son of Louis and Naomi (Yoder) Yoder who reside at 40 Green Lane, Belleville. On March 26, 1994, he married Twila F. (Byler) Yoder. She resides at their home.

Along with his parents and wife, he is also survived by his children, Philip K. Yoder, of Belleville, Durrell K. Yoder of Milroy, Sophia R. Yoder of Newburg, and David L. Yoder of Belleville; his siblings, Leora Yoder and husband Mike of Belleville, Fern Brooks of Stuarts Draft, Va., Vernon Yoder and wife Nancy of Belleville, Twila Beachey and husband Clayton of Bastrop, Texas; a sister-in-law, Lavina (Zook) Yoder of Mifflinburg; a step mother- in-law, Fannie (Yoder) Miller Byler of Minnesota, six sisters-in-law; five brothers-in-law; three step sisters-in-law; and five step brothers-in-law, as well as many special nieces and nephews.

J.D. was preceded in death by two brothers, Phillip Yoder and Edwin J. Yoder.

He was a truck driver for over 20 years and most recently for Glenn O. Hawbaker Construction. He was a member of Locust Grove Mennonite Church, where he served on the worship team and lead worship many times. He and his wife are also members of Altoona-Johnstown Treis Des.

He enjoyed fishing, spending time at cabins with his family and watching any sports with his kids. He will be remembered most for his love of singing. He was a true man of God and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021, at Locust Grove Mennonite Church with Pastor Ivan Yoder officiating.

Burial will take place at Locust Grove Cemetery following the service. His family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2021, at Locust Grove Church.
