John J. Schrock, Jr.

September 20, 1950 - July 31, 2020

GOSHEN - John J. Schrock Jr., 69, of Goshen, formerly of Belleville, PA, died at 11:10 a.m. Friday, July 31, in Golden Living Center, 1001 W. Hively Avenue, where he had been a resident in the Memory Care Unit for more than four years.


John was born September 20, 1950, in Plain City, Ohio to John J.L. and Amelia (Bontrager) Schrock. He was the youngest of 10 children. He never married. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Ella, Truman, Ida and Vernon.


Survivors include sisters, Ada (Vernon) Mullet of Middlebury, IN, Esther (Jonas) King of Goshen, IN and Pauline Miller of Goshen, IN; brothers, LeRoy (Shirley) Schrock of Goshen, IN and Levi Schrock of Omega, GA; and many nieces and nephews.


John attended Rosedale Bible Institute and worked as a truck driver, musician and master carpenter. In the late 1980s, he moved to Big Valley, Pennsylvania and made his home there until 2014 when he moved to northern Indiana to be closer to family after a diagnosis of early onset Alzheimer’s.


He recorded albums as a country singer J.T. Austin in northern Indiana in the 1980s and later as John J. Schrock, singing odes to Big Valley and the Bible, which he studied as a scholar.

He was beloved in Allensville, Pennsylvania and attended Rockville Fellowship. His beautiful stonemasonry and carpentry work is still enjoyed throughout the community.


A private family service will take place. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery, Goshen. Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury is in charge of arrangements.
