John K. Kauffman

January 5, 1939 - March 5, 2023



John K. Kauffman, 84, of 80 Creekside Drive, Reedsville, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023, at his home.


He was born on Jan. 5, 1939, in Lancaster, PA, a son of the late Crist K. and Annie (King) Kauffman. On May 7, 1959, he married Beulah E. (Yoder) Kauffman. She survives at their home.

Also surviving are: his children, Joseph Kauffman and wife, Ruth, of Belleville; Regina Byler and husband, David, of Mill Creek; Carol Hostetler and husband, Samuel, of Reedsville; Tim Kauffman and wife, Ruth, of Reedsville; Beth King and husband, Galen, of Belleville; James Kauffman and wife, Abigail, of Westminster, SC; 28 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Mary Peachey of Mifflin; Rebecca Peachey of Belleville; Anna Helmuth and husband, Frederick, of Quaker City, OH; and a brother-in-law, Eric Kraly, of Ethridge, TN. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by: two granddaughters, Shalom Kauffman and Hailey Kauffman; a brother, Steve Kauffman, a sister Leah Kraly, a stillborn sister, two brothers-in-law, Henry Peachey and Lewis Peachey, and a sister-in-law, Rhoda Kauffman.

John was a lifelong dairy farmer in Armagh Township. He thoroughly enjoyed farming and especially planting corn. In his retirement years, he enjoyed vacationing and fishing at Chautauqua Lake with some of his children and grandchildren. Most recently, he was especially fond of visiting with family and friends and relaxing at Hostetler’s Deli.

His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 9, 2023, at Valley View Amish Mennonite Church, where he was a member. Officiating will be Earl Peachey, Loren Yoder and Jesse Zook. Burial will take place at Locust Grove Cemetery following the service. His family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Valley View Church.
