Joseph Martin Anastasi, 65, of 142 Birch Drive, Lewistown, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 6, 2024 at his home.
He was born on January 8, 1959 to the late Henry J. Anastasi and Christina (Updegrove) Shaffer.
He was survived by siblings: Denise Foss and husband Howard of Lewistown, Vince Anastasi and wife Darla of Intercourse and Melissa Anastasi-Plank of Reedsville; nieces: Courtney Anastasi-Foss, Brianna Zimmerman, Sierra Anastasi, Montana Plank, and Heather Laub.
Joe was a 1976 graduate of Kishacoquillas High School. He worked for many years at Fairmont in Belleville, where he served as a union steward for much of his time there. In 2022, he retired from Standard Steel in Burnham, where he worked as a bricklayer.
Joe was a friend to all; he was a people person and loved to socialize and be with his friends. He was a kind soul and always had a smile on his face. He really enjoyed riding his Harley. He and his friends made many trips together on their bikes. Growing up, he was an avid archery hunter, loved the outdoors and was quite fond of the time spent with his Dad, brother and friend, Gary Goss at their camp in Stone Valley. Joe enjoyed most sports, especially NASCAR and watching the Triple Crown. He was always up on the latest news in the sports world.
He was a skilled carpenter and loved wood working. He also had an eye for making his house a home.
His family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 from 5-8 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church Social Hall, 3597 West Main Street, Belleville. A graveside service will be private and at the convenience of the family at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Belleville.
