February 17, 1992 - July 21, 2020
Justin Harry McCalips, 28, of Atkinsons Mills, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2020, at his home.
Born Feb. 17, 1992, in Lewistown, he was the son of Steven A. McCalips, of Lewistown and the late Marcie (Peoples) McCalips, who passed away June 14, 1996.
Along with his father, he is also survived by his step mother, Michele McCalips, of Lewistown; maternal grandmother, Sharon Moser, of Belleville; a brother, Andrew McCalips and fiance, Miranda Lynch, and their children, Tate and Evan McCalips, of Lewistown; a twin sister, Stephanie McCalips and her daughter, Amelia McCalips, of Belleville; and three step siblings, Tami Day and companion, Nick Kurtz, and their three children, of McVeytown, Denise Smith and husband, Barney, and their three children of Lewistown, Todd Taylor and wife, Kayla, and their four children of Yeagertown, and Susan Drolsbaugh and husband, Adam, and their three children, of Honey Grove.
Along with his mother, he was also preceded in death by a step sister, Mindy Day; his maternal grandfather, William “Jock” Peoples; and paternal grandparents, Goldie and Harry McCalips.
Justin graduated from Belleville Mennonite School in 2010. He then joined the U.S. Army in June 2010 and served until Oct. 2014. During that time, he was stationed in Hohenfels, Germany and was then transferred to Colorado Springs. Upon his honorable discharge, he became employed with the Department of Corrections in Smithfield until the present. He was a member of the Locust Grove Mennonite Church, a member of the Belleville Fire Company, and a lifetime member of the VFW. Justin was an avid weight lifter and he also enjoyed hunting and hanging out with his friends.
His viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 26, 2020, at Maple Grove Mennonite Church, 115 Maple Grove Road, Belleville.
His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 27, 2020, also at Maple Grove Mennonite Church with Pastor Max Zook officiating.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of his family.
