Kathy L. Schmidt

April 24, 1952 - February 25, 2023


Kathy L. Schmidt, 70, of 159 Peachtree Lane, Lewistown, passed away at 7:28 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.


She was born April 24, 1952, in Lewistown, a daughter of the late Richard and Arlene (Brownwell) Henry. On Aug. 1, 1971, she married John W. Schmidt, he survives at their home.

She is also survived by: her children, Justin J. Schmidt & significate other, Amanda Laird of Lewistown; Jessica S. Pietzsch & husband Matt of Belleville; grandchildren, Jordan, Kelsey & Caleb Schmidt; Dekker & Macy Pietzsch; her siblings, Cinda Ammerman of Lewistown, Jeffrey Henry & wife, Jodi, of Harrisburg, and Thomas Henry & wife, Margaret, of Lewistown. She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Thomas Ammerman.

Kathy obtained the nursing classifications beginning with her CNA, then she became an LPN, next she was an RN and then upon her graduation from Penn State in 1991, she achieved her BS-RN.

She worked for 25 years in Lewistown Hospital’s Operating Room. Following that, she became Director of Pain Management and Anesthesia at Lewistown Hospital, and held various other positions at the hospital as well.

She was a member of the Lewistown Presbyterian Church, a member of the Gold Key Honor Society at Penn State, a member of the Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society at Penn State and was part of the College of Health & Human Development Alumni Association.

Kathy enjoyed traveling the world with her husband and friends, flower gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved animals, especially her dogs and all wildlife.

Her memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2023 at Henderson Funeral Home, 3813 West Main St., Belleville with Pastor Dave Fultz officiating.

Her family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home on Friday.
