Lewis E. Peachey

September 20, 1942 - January 13, 2021




On Wednesday, January 13, 2021, Lewis E. Peachey, 78, of Belleville, suddenly left his earthly home as God painted a beautiful sunset. It was a comforting confirmation of his glorious entry into eternal rest.


Lewis was born September 20, 1942 to the late Aaron and Hannah (Kurtz) Peachey. He married the love of his life, Rebecca (Kauffman) Peachey on March 19, 1963. He is survived by his 4 brothers Joseph, Leroy & wife Sally, David, and Lester & wife Shirley as well as 3 sisters, Mary & husband Sheryl Wert, Sara Ann & husband Levi Peachey, and Arlene Peachey. Also surviving are his 8 children, Viola & husband Noah Sharp, Wanda & husband Mervin Hostetler, Twila & husband John Hostetler, Sharon & husband Mark Yoder, Charity & husband Ryan Hostetler, Aaron & wife Regina Peachey, Anna & husband Dave Lapp, and Louella & husband Amos Swarey, 28 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Jesse Peachey, a daughter, Darlene Peachey, a grandson, Anthony Hostetler, and a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Peachey.

Lewis was a butcher most of his life and a former owner of A.J. Peachey & Sons Inc. He loved serving the community and people were his biggest asset. He was well known for his positive and optimistic outlook which carried him through life’s challenges.

He was a member of Valley View Amish Mennonite Church.

His funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Valley View Amish Mennonite Church with Matt Peachey, Jesse Zook & Eli King officiating. Burial will take place at Allensville Mennonite Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Valley View Church.
