Lloyd Eli Troyer, 73, of 124 Watson Road, State College, Pa., passed away peacefully at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024, at Mt. Nittany Medical Center.
Born Feb. 17, 1951, in Virginia Beach, VA., he was the 12th and youngest child born to the late Ezra and Amanda (Kramer) Troyer. Lloyd is survived by his beloved wife, Betty (Kulp) Troyer, whom he married on June 14, 1975. Together, they raised a loving family, including their children: Harold R. Troyer and his wife, Larissa, of Belleville, PA.; Hannah Sommers and her husband, Steve, of Warsaw, MO.; Hector Troyer and his wife, Lois, of State College, PA.; Harmony Schrock Yoder and her husband, Andy Yoder, of Lincoln, MO.; Henry Troyer and his wife, Joann, of Belleville, PA.; Hope Troyer of Warsaw, MO. Lloyd was blessed with 21 grandchildren, all of whom brought him great joy.
He is also survived by three siblings: Sister, Ruth Yoder and her husband, Mark, of Somerset, PA.; Brother, Ezra Troyer and his wife, Alma, of Newport, ME.; Brother, Calvin Troyer of Stuarts Draft, VA.
Lloyd was preceded in death by brothers, sisters, and a son-in-law Philip Schrock.
Lloyd was known for his deep faith, love for evangelism, and strong work ethic. For most of his life, he worked as a skilled bricklayer. When physical labor became difficult Lloyd sold storage barns.
He was a member and elder of Followers of Jesus congregation in State College, where he faithfully served his community and congregation. His lifelong passion for reaching the lost will not be soon forgotten.
Lloyd loved to tell stories and would keep his cousins and then his children and grandchildren in rapt attention, leaving them with cherished memories of his warmth and humor. He also found great joy in fishing and especially loved taking his grandchildren to the lake.Â
His funeral service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Pleasant View Church on Green Lane in Belleville, Pa., with Arlan Kurtz, Eli Troyer, Joel Martin, and Ken Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Pleasant View Church.
