Margaret W. ‘Peg’ Esh

October 14, 1939 - January 3, 2022




Margaret W. “Peg” Esh, 82, of 90 Seneca Drive, Belleville, passed away at 6:21 a.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2022, at her home.


She was born Oct. 14, 1939, in Huntingdon, a daughter of the late Donald and Dorothy (Endres) Whittaker. In 1963, she married I. Robert Esh, who passed away on Feb. 7, 2014.

Surviving are: her children, Elizabeth Esh Smith and husband James of Florida; Kimberly Esh Russell and husband John of Greenwood, S.C.; David W. Esh and wife Melinda of Frederick, Md.; and Christopher Scott Esh and wife Tammy of Lititz; seven grandchildren, Alex Smith, Katie Smith, Whittaker Russell, Dorothy Anna Russell, Peter Russell, Abigail Esh, and Eliza Esh, as well as a brother, Thomas Whittaker and wife Nancy of Dillsburg and a sister-in-law, Marjorie Shilling of Belleville.

Peg was a 1957 graduate of Huntingdon High School. She began her college career at Penn State and graduated from Juniata College in 1962. She taught music in Huntingdon School District until she was married in 1963. She then primarily became a homemaker and taught piano lessons for many years and to many students.

She was a member of West Kishacoquillas Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder and choir director for a number of years. She was also a member of Belleville Civic Club, American Association of University Women, and Order of the Eastern Star. She loved to sew and also enjoyed tending to her flower gardens, reading, baking and traveling to England.

Her funeral service will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Burial will take place at Machpelah Cemetery in Belleville.
