Orpha C. (Yoder) Zook

October 3, 1930 - December 3, 2020



Orpha C. (Yoder) Zook, 90, of Memory Lane at Valley View, passed away at 6:12 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020 at Valley View.


Born Oct. 3, 1930 in Belleville, she was a daughter of the late Aaron S. and Sadie (Glick) Yoder. On Oct. 27, 1951, she married Ivan E. Zook. He preceded her in death on July 12, 2016.

Surviving are: her children, Roger L. Zook & wife Wanda of Belleville; Robert E. Zook & wife Karen of Belleville; Ruby Yoder & husband Dennis of Allensville; Ruth E. Sharp & husband Marlin of Windsor, VA; a son-in-law, Randy Gutshall of Pheasant Valley; 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Bossinger of Lewistown, and a brother-in-law, Jefferson Byler of Huntingdon.

Along with her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Rita M. Gutshall on May 28, 2018 and her siblings, Vesta Yoder, Samuel Yoder, Darvin Yoder, and Lydia Byler.

Orpha was a primarily a homemaker. Earlier in life, she worked at Vogt’s Garment Factory in Allensville until its closing, then she became a waitress at AJ Peachey & Sons Restaurant. She was a member of Locust Grove Mennonite Church and the Ladies Sewing Circle at the church as well. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and gardening.

Her services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at Locust Grove Cemetery with Pastor Max Zook officiating.

In lieu of flowers, should friends desire, memorials may be made to: Locust Grove Mennonite Church, 3358 West Main St., Belleville, PA 17004 or to Gator Wilderness Camp School, 44930 Farabee Road, Punta Gorda, FL 33982.

Orpha’s family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Memory Lane for their outstanding and loving care they provided to her during her stay there.
