Phyllis M. Boonie

September 2, 1930 - November 16, 2020

Phyllis M. Boonie, 90, of Valley View Haven, Belleville, passed away Monday, Nov. 16, 2020 at the Haven.


Born Sept. 2, 1930, in Jackson Township, Huntingdon County, she was a daughter of the late Homer and Sarah (Rudy) Koch. July 9, 1949, she married Wesley “Bo” Boonie, who preceded her in death Jan. 3, 2010.


She is survived by her children, Richard A. Boonie, Janet Stiehler and Gladys Guyer and husband Bill, all of McAlevys Fort, six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.


She was the last of her immediate family and was preceded in death by 14 brothers and sisters.


Mrs. Boonie was a member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in McAlevys Fort.

She was a past member of the Shavers Creek and Stone Creek Valley Fire Company ladies auxiliaries. Mrs. Boonie attended Stone Valley High School.


She was primarily a homemaker and earlier in life she cleaned homes and worked as a waitress in the State College area.


Mrs. Boonie loved working in her vegetable and flower gardens and cutting flowers to make pretty arrangements she could enjoy. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and just being with her family, as well as feeding and watching the birds. Her favorite pastime was playing bingo.


A graveside service will be held in her honor at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Cemetery in McAlevys Fort with the Rev. Evelyn Wald officiating.
