Robert Edgar Himes

Robert Edgar Himes, 79, of Valley View Haven and formally of Trella St, Belleville PA, passed away at 12:18 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021, at the Haven.

Born Feb. 23, 1942, in Belleville PA, to parents Robert M. Himes, who passed Aug. 21, 1974, and Mary E. (Huey) Himes, who passed Oct. 18, 1998.

He is preceded in death by a sister, Jane E. (Himes) Dahl, who passed away on, March 12, 1997, and brother-in-law, James Y. Dahl, who passed on April, 23, 1994.

He is survives by brother B. Timothy Himes and wife Toni P, of Philadelphia, nephews: Benjamin T. Himes and wife Carna and daughter Alana of Rochester, Minn. Adam Philip Himes and wife Ozge of Boston, Mass. Anthony R. Himes of Newport News, VA.

Bob was a 1960 graduate of Kishacoquillas High School. He graduated from Juniata College in 1964. He served in the U.S. Navy for 3.5 years during the Vietnam War. He then started as an insurance underwriter and worked for a number of different companies around the U.S. He then re-trained and worked as a computer programmer, and was employed by Snyders of Hanover until his retirement.

Following his retirement, he relocated back to Belleville and served as the church organist in the West Kish Presbyterian Church in Belleville and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Allensville. He retired from this position in 2018. He was a member of the West Kishacoquillas Presbyterian Church in Belleville. His services will be private and at the convenience of the family with Pastor Ela Robertson officiating. Burial will take place at Machpleah Cemetery.
