Ruth Ann Metzler Yoder

March 27, 1937 - November 21, 2020


Ruth Ann Metzler Yoder, 83, of Valley View Haven, Belleville, entered into her eternal rest Saturday, Nov. 21, 2020, after suffering complications from Covid-19.


Born March 27, 1937, in Belleville, she was a daughter of the late Jonathan Z. and Barbara (Sharp) Yoder. On Oct. 8, 1960, she married A. Jay Metzler. He preceded her in death Dec. 26, 1998. In 2000, she married Roland Yoder who survives in Belleville.

She is also survived by her children, Alan Metzler and wife, Jill, of Reedsville, Arlin Metzler and wife, Virginia, of Harrisville, and Barbara Metzler, of Belleville; as well as grandchildren, Lucas Metzler and wife, Kari, Logan Metzler and wife, Kristie, Nathan Metzler and wife, Annie, Lynde Metzler, and Jay Metzler; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Josh Walters and Breanna Walters; great-grandchildren, Ella, Cael, Lyla and Jedd Metzler; and two brothers, John L. Yoder and wife, Enid, and Lee M. Yoder and wife, LaVerne.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Melvin C. Yoder; a sister, Mary C. Yoder; and an infant brother, Thomas Richard Yoder.

Ruth Ann graduated as valedictorian from Menno-Union High School in 1955. She was primarily a homemaker, with many volunteer activities including Meals on Wheels and editing the Locust Grove Mennonite Church newsletter. She helped her husband Jay with his electrical business for a number of years and as a young woman, she worked as a book keeper for S. E. Peachey and M.C. Jones. She was a successful Tupperware dealer in the 1970s.

She treasured her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her graveside service will be private and at the convenience of the family at Pleasant View Cemetery.
