Terry L. “Chet” Harmon, 70, of Lewistown, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at the Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.
He was born on August 20, 1954, in Lewistown, to the Betty J. (Potter) Harmon and the late Larry E. Harmon. He was married to Betsy (Lewis) Morgan for 40 years.
Surviving are children: Dawna M. Harmon and partner Denise Ream of Lewistown, Dustin L. Harmon of McVeytown; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; siblings: Cheryl Harmon and companion Brenda Fultz of Milroy and Mike Harmon and wife Beth of Belleville. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Jim Freed of Belleville and a number of special nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his twin infant brother, Jerry Harmon and a sister, Kim Freed.
Terry was a 1972 graduate of Penn Highlands. He then served in the U.S. Air Force from 1972-1976, and was honorably discharged in 1976. He was a sergeant and a military police officer, and served in Thailand for 18 months. Following his military service, he was a custodian at Mifflin County School District for 27 years. He was also a self-employed painter for a number of years.
He was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan, a member of the American Legion in Milroy, member of City Hook and Ladder in Lewistown and Yeagertown Fire Company.
He loved camping with family and friends and in earlier years, enjoyed hunting, golfing, playing racquetball and attending grandchildren’s sporting events.
He has an amazing “river family” that he cared about.
Per his wishes, there will be no services.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
