Twila M. Peachey, 99, of Valley View Haven, Belleville, passed away at 4:18 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 15, 2021, at the Haven.
Born Aug. 23, 1921, in Davidsville, she was a daughter of the late Harrison and Sadie (Wingard) Kaufman. On Nov. 12, 1972, she married Joseph G. Peachey, who preceded her in death on Feb. 5, 1985.
Twila is survived by many special nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Effie Yoder and Mary Heckman, and a brother, Sem Kaufman.
She graduated from Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. She continued working there for two years after her graduation; she then traveled to Hazard, Ky., to do voluntary service for one year and after her time there, she worked from October 1966 to October 1972 at Conyoa County Hospital in La Junta, Colo. She then returned to the area and was employed at Lewistown Hospital until her retirement in 1983.
She was a member of Locust Grove Mennonite Church, a member of the ladies sewing circle at the church, she taught Sunday school in the past, and she very much enjoyed quilting, crocheting and doing craft activities.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, 2021 at Henderson Funeral Home, Belleville with Pastor Gerald Peachey officiating. Burial will take place at Locust Grove Cemetery following the service. Her family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
