Verna M. Yoder

November 26, 1933 - December 16, 2020




Verna M. Yoder, 87, of 278 Stayrook Road, Belleville, passed away at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2020 at the home of Daryl & Sarah Yoder in Mattawana.


Born Nov. 26, 1933 in Belleville, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Mary (Peachey) Spicher. On Dec. 20, 1956, she married Mark R. Yoder. He preceded her in death on January 24, 2006.

She is survived by: her children, Kenneth M. Yoder & wife Michelle of Harrisburg; David C. Yoder & wife Ruth of Belleville; Mary Jane Kennel & husband John of Monmouth, OR; Rudy James Yoder & wife Rhonda of Belleville; Nathan R. Yoder & wife Tina of Belleville; and Lucinda Yoder & husband Cedric of Belleville, as well as 14 grandchildren, Adam, Jessica, Lisa, Lauren, Mark, Ashley, Andrew, Isaac, Sondra, Deanna, Blake, Dustin, Analisa, and Micah, 21 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Martha King & husband David of Belleville.

Along with her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by an infant son, John Mark Yoder, two daughters-in-law, Beth Yoder & Linda Yoder and two sisters, Lillian Spicher and Mary Spicher.

Verna was primarily a homemaker. She was a member of Mountain View Mennonite Chapel in Reedsville. She loved going to camp and spending time with her family. She enjoyed flower & vegetable gardening, making flower arrangements, attending the sewing circle at church, and singing. Her family can attest that she made the best moon pies.

Her graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020 at Locust Grove Cemetery with Daryl Yoder officiating.
